This is an example of what it looks like when all of your design assets work together to form a cohesive brand identity.
Each instance uses a similar design language to help reinforce the brand. Each element is individually designed to look its best, but by using a consistent design language, everything ties together. The aim here is to create something that leaves a lasting impression on your audience so that whenever they see something new from you, they instantly associate it with all their good experiences with your work in the past.
The idea behind this logo was to create something stylish but straightforward that could work just as well on the spine of a book as it does on merchandise.
Transforming my initials into a book created an emblem that instantly tells a story on its own. More importantly, though, the logo itself is just a simple shape that can be adjusted easily with colours and special effects to make it work in any environment and at any size.
I wanted to create a consistent language that would work across all of the books in this 5 part series so that they would look great as a set. As a collector of physical books, I wanted them to look just as great on a bookshelf as a group as they do individually.
It’s also a great way of making each book look unique, selling the distinctive qualities of that individual book whilst also making it obvious they belong together as a whole.
For the website, I started with the logo and took elements from the book covers to build a site that fits both me as the author and the books. Using similar fonts for titles and keeping the same design aesthetic creates a feeling of continuity across the books and the website that helps reinforce the brand.
The ideal result is that I now have multiple elements that look good individually but work even better together. Every element builds on the last to create an overall collection that offers a better experience than any of these items could deliver on their own.
To finish everything off, here is a 3D animated advert that I created to promote the books on social media.
